The Hours Between Night and Day – Ottmar Liebert & Luna Negra Last year I wrote about this killer album I heard called Borasca, by Ottmar Liebert. Well, the guy is obviously no flash in the pan, because here he is again, with an album that is even better! I'll preface this by telling you that Gigi and I went to see Ottmar live last month in Pompano Beach. His performance was scintillating and I will go back to see him again. His band, Luna Negra, was also impressive - consisting of several acoustic guitars, three percussionists, keyboards and brass. This album has a lot of sound effects mixed into the songs, like rainforests, ocean waves and the like. The imaging and soundstaging is spectacular and it makes me wonder if the guy is an audiophile! The mix is by Doug Sax, one of the top dudes in the whole world. I listen and I am stunned that a German born 'Anglo' can play Latino guitar like it was part of his soul ! This is a killer album. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, go directly to music store :) Zip
