Pop-jazz guitarist Ottmar Liebert - best known for pioneering the nouveau flamenco movement - is back with his eighth album, retooling some of his best-loved originals.

In nearly every case, the new versions are more interesting, more
passionate than the original arrangements, first released in the early
'90s.

Chalk that up to Liebert having played these songbook mainstays hundreds of times over the years during concert appearances.

In fact, that's the charm of this disc: Although it's a studio recording, it
has the energy and feel of a live performance, particularly on the best
tracks, "Barcelona Night" and "La Rosa Negra."
